Check the current offer for your heating source
For purchased qualifying cold-climate air-source heat pumps, the official program currently lists up to $7,500 for eligible homes primarily heated with electricity, oil, propane or wood, and up to $2,000 for eligible Enbridge natural-gas customers. Actual amounts depend on equipment capacity and program rules. These are maximums, not promised rebates.
Confirm eligibility before work begins
The official program requires pre-approval. Work with a participating contractor on the pre-installation application and wait for approval before installation. After installation, the contractor completes the post-installation application. Review the official eligibility details rather than assuming an installation qualifies because it includes a cold-climate heat pump.
Choose a system for the home
An incentive is one part of an upgrade decision. The proposed system still needs to suit the home’s heating and cooling needs, existing distribution and available electrical supply. Ask for a clear equipment proposal and an explanation of how alternate heat will work where applicable. Compare the system price separately from any anticipated incentive.
